All Moved In and Decorated

     We are officially all moved in!  The finishing touches have been put on the house and now we are just settling in and enjoying the beautiful craftsmanship. A few weeks ago Linda began to decorate for Thanksgiving. She is looking forward to hosting her first holiday in the new home. We are looking forward to many years of hosting friends and family on the farm.

     The dinning room table was made by my sister and, her friend and fellow artist, Forrest. In keeping with the look of the table, Linda and I cut, sanded, and screwed together the benches. I was so proud of myself for learning to use a circular saw for the first time. No worries, I still have all my fingers and toes. I also made the chalk board, cork board, and coat rack in the entry way. I am just a regular DIY kind of gal!

     I know my father would be proud of what my mother has accomplished on the farm. This house was something they dreamed of doing together, but as you know life doesn't always work out the way we had planned. As she continues to forge a new path into the future she never forgets the loved ones that will live on in her heart .

Constructed and on the move in

Unfortunate events had prevented us from blogging this past month. We apologize to our family, friends, and followers for this temporary hiccup. We are proud to be back and sharing all the progress that has taken place on the farm house. Construction is practically over, other than minor alterations and repairs, and we have begun to move our belongings into our humble abode. Moving is stressful so we are taking it slow and settling in one day at a time. Hope you find it as beautiful as we do, and please don't mind the mess!

God is great, God is good, and we thank him for this food!

Summer is closing in around us and Fall is on its way and will be here before we know it. Our garden has been good to us! We ate as much as we could, froze some (we will can next year in the new house, no space this year), we gave away as much as folks would take, and the rest went to the compost pile (food for the earth).I have spent the past few days cleaning up the garden, and by cleaning I mean pulling the dying plants and trimming back what is left. Here are some photos of the last few harvests. I hope we are just as successful next year and every other after!

Fire on the Mountain

The ground work has been laid, the rock was sent for, and we have the start of the most gorgeous hearth. I am amazed at how wonderful the rock matches that of the rock naturally found in the creek here at the farm. The contractor has really outdid himself on this one. He even used some small stones he collected from the creek, see if you can spot which ones are from the farm! It is not done and I don't want to spoil the finished work so here is just a peek.
