Attack of the Cows!

Over the last few days I've had so many run-ins with nature. And by nature, I mean cows. Before the old trailer was removed, there was a fence around where we stayed. Now the cows come up to our site every day, poop everywhere, eat the dirt out of the excavated space where the new house will go, stick their heads into the old chicken coup, knock over Erica's deep sink that sits outside, and generally be the most curious animals ever which makes me wonder why a saying never began that said: "Curiosity killed the cow."

Even so, they are incredibly interesting. The farmer up the road has about 10 momma cows (to use the scientific term) and there is a calf for each one here on the farm. Literally, each calf has one mother and they do not switch it up. Now one may watch three or four while their mothers feed, but each mother and calf tandem is tagged with a specific number.

You know, I've heard that they have three stomachs and just the other day I had the privilege of watching this one cow chew her cud. Swallow. Regurgitate (possibly switching stomachs for all I know). And chew again.

And lastly, if you start to see things randomly tipped over at your house, blame #991. That's the most curious of them all!
